the more we widen our spectrum, the less we have to firmly grasp-

...and at those times when every.thing seems quite overwhelming,
recall that sanity in this vast anxiety requires a backing up, backing up,
out of the chair, the room, the building,
how silly it is.
And beautiful.
And complex.
And complete.

"This country's hard on people, you can't stop what's coming, it ain't all waiting on you. That's Vanity" ('no country for old men').

it's cold out... [Mar. 10th, 2008|12:46 pm]
There exists no Proper tragedy,
as the experience of such events or occasions
is the result of our own personal perception
(emotionally, phenomenologically, et cetera),
and thus has no effect on the Main Event,
that is to say,
the turning,
turning.

If we find ourselves too much
drawn to these occurrences
and too much enwrapped,
we become like the dust squall
at the far end of an empty lot;
just as there exists, purely, no bad things,
but only misuses of good things,
we must spend our days wisely,
not always harping on what is behind,
lest we lose the always already present.

This manner of emotional economy spares us
much of the anxiety and emotional tear
we associate with memory,
and which we allow to hang about in our pockets,
turning it over and over again with cold fingers,
allowing the alleged transgressors ever more victory-

A victory over another’s imagination burns through
to any potential or realized encounter which is in store,
or ready to hand,
only as long as we allow it.

How many pockets are you in?
